The winner of the November “Start with Art” writing contest is Untitled by Rebecca Piercey ’24. Above is the piece of art it was based on, which is Zanele Muholi’s “Ntozakhe II, Parktown, 2016”. Below is the poem written by Rebecca Piercey.
Darlin’ you look best in moonlight
With eyes that may just be the end of me
I can’t promise anything-
But to you I’ll give all my centuries
Broken as you may be
Your stone cold beauty is still perfection to me
Snowflakes on your lashes
Frozen earth stuck in your eyes
A Wintery beauty, you stand still and undying
Forever with folly, to you love I will give
Always for you-
fully through all of my smirking grins
I’d gladly lie in bed with death, if it meant being with you
my beloved who stands frozen in time, forever still
God bless my goddess of lost time and cool light
