Here at St. Andrew’s there is a multitude of different clubs offered to, and run by, the student body. Whether you are interested in joining a club that focuses on a certain skill or game or has a real world impact on the community at home and abroad, the school gives you the perfect platform to express yourself and invest your time in something that is worthwhile. While many students spend their Monday or Wednesday activity periods doing work or socializing, the club program at St. Andrew’s will give you an alternative setting in which you can explore your interests or try something new. Three clubs that I suggest looking to if you are undecided in your club search or are just curious for a new experience would be the Acapella Club, the Hearts For Haiti Club, and the Mane News.

The Acapella Club at St. Andrew’s is one of our most popular clubs. The array of student singers in the group, both experienced vocalists and excited newcomers, creates a warm environment, making it easy for people to fit right into the group and make more friends. The club works hard throughout the year to create renditions of popular songs without instrumental accompaniment and performs them in front of the student body as well as on their annual trip to Busch Gardens to compete in the singing contest there. Through the experienced leadership of club sponsor Mr. Yonce the club is always producing much anticipated shows at school assemblies and is a source of pride for our Performing Arts Department and our school as a whole.

Another great club that we offer at St. Andrew’s is the Hearts For Haiti Club. The Hearts For Haiti Club has a significant real world contribution as it benefits those who are enrolled in our partner school in Civol, Haiti. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, and the students who are part of this group at St. Andrew’s want to make a big difference in the lives of these people whom they don’t even know on a personal level. In order to carry out this goal the members of this club organize fundraisers, drives, and raffles in order to generate money and supplies to send to those living in Civol. The people in this club are committed to, and enjoy doing, this good work in order to provide our partner school with the supplies they need and to change the lives of their students. This club is worth looking at and signing up for because you can be a part of this passionate and self-rewarding environment.

The final club I would suggest joining would be the Mane News. The Mane News here at St. Andrew’s is contributed to and worked on entirely by the students. The newspaper here is an expressive venue that allows students to write directly from their own opinion about things that interest them. It also alerts its audience to recaps of sports games and school spirit events like the Tent Decorating Competition and Performing Arts assemblies. The beauty of the Mane News is that it gives the students a voice to speak their mind regarding their thoughts on the St. Andrew’s community and the world around them – something which they might not get the opportunity to voice a public opinion on if they are not part of Mane News. With its enthusiastic staff, students, and parents, Mane News at St. Andrews continues to play a significant part in the cultural and daily lives of our students.
