Last year’s volleyball team won it all. Can this team repeat its tournamet success in the new year? Coach Taylor and Coach Johnson will continue to lead this team after a 8-2 overall regular season record; however, after losing key seniors, Audrey Magruder, Bella Antonetti, Savannah Wilson, and Charlotte Clark, they are hoping to replicate their success from last season.
Currently, the volleyball team has a 6-0 conference record and they finished undefeated in their conference and reguler season champions. Their most recent game against Stone Ridge went well as they won 3-0. Additionally, they defeated conference rival Sidwell Friends 3-1. Sophomore Ellie Sather shared her favorite memory of the season. When they beat Maret at home, she said “The support was amazing, especially since not a lot of people came to our games last year.” As most teams do, the volleyball team also has superstitions. According to Ellie, “Mackenzie sometimes wears special socks and Clare sometimes forgets to wash her knee pads.”
As the team finishes their season, they continue to appreciate the support the student body gives them. The team works together to strive for success, get into the right mindset, and use the rotations the team has built to succeed in the ISL once again. Although the team did lose multiple valuable seniors, they acquired plenty of new talent through new underclassmen. Notably, freshman Eireni Scott has brought new energy and commitment to the team. Scott along with other freshmen has worked with upperclassmen leaders on the team like senior Norah Oppenheim and junior Naomi Jackson to balance veteran leadership and experience with new talent. Because of the commitment and energy of the rising stars, the future looks bright for our volleyball team! See you in the den.
