Kendrick Lamar. Taylor Swift. Drake. The Weeknd. Were any of these artists on your Spotify Wrapped this year? A Spotify Wrapped tells someone what you like and how much time you spend in the realm of music. Some people love their Wrapped, and some people are still wondering how Aria Math by C418 was their number five song, but that doesn’t change the fact that you listened to it.
Sophomore Royce Duncan said he both liked and disliked his Wrapped. “It’s abysmal,” he said. Royce felt like he listened to more music other than rap and felt like his Wrapped didn’t document that. His top 3 artists, Jace!, jaydes, and SoFaygo, were all rappers, with Hardrock and Drake being 4th and 5th.
Despite this, the sophomore was happy with the way his wrapped included lesser-known artists. “I like the underground though,” he said. “It shows who’s gonna come up.”
Other students generally liked their Spotify Wrapped. Junior Rhian Williams said, “It’s actually not that bad,” about her Spotify Wrapped. Her top three artists were TV Girl, PinkPanthress, and carwash, with ThxSoMch and carolesdaughter being her fourth and fifth place artists.
Senior Andrew Saavedra said that his Wrapped described him pretty well. His top three artists were Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, and Rosalía, with Drake and Yeat being his fourth and fifth place artists.
Let’s not forget about teachers though, because they also have a Spotify Wrapped. Mr. Stanger, an Upper School physics teacher, said, “My Wrapped describes me 100%.”
His top artists were Taylor Swift, Hippo Campus, and ABBA. Mr. Stanger was very happy about his Wrapped, especially his top artist, Taylor Swift.
