As the end of the year comes to a close, the summer becomes more and more apparent as each day passes. But before summer and all the perks that come with it can start, we need to get through the dreaded exams. Some people may have completed a few of them, such as their AP exams, but the rest are still waiting. Stress has many negative effects on the body and in the end, can cause you to do worse on your test. Here are some suggestions to try and ease your anxiety.

  • Sleep! I know it’s what teachers and parents always say but eight hours of sleep every night may just be the key to Acing your exam.
  • Keep your sleep schedule consistent. Although going to bed early the night of the exam is nice, staying up until 1 a.m. the night before that will make it almost impossible to get that peaceful dose of sleep you want before the test.
  • Eat breakfast and bring snacks. You don’t want your rumbling tummy to be a distraction.
  • While studying, remember to take breaks. Going for a walk around the block can provide relaxation and clear your mind.
  • Reward yourself. Give yourself a treat after you study for one hour or completely memorize a stack of flashcards.
  • Study in advance. If you start a week before, everything seems a lot more manageable.
  • Take a long bath or shower the night before. This helps you relax and takes your mind off the exam.

 

If you can do all these things, you may just relax a little and be more successful. Just remember to breath throughout your test and you will do great! Now go conquer those finals!
